Delivering intelligent multi-pump control to maximise efficiency across a large-scale irrigation system.
Supplying water across a large irrigation network requires more than powerful pumps – it demands intelligent control. Working alongside long-term project partner Water Plus, MATelec Australia delivered a custom HydroTOUCH control solution for a major horse stud in Victoria's Goulburn Valley, providing efficient management of three 90kW line shaft turbine pumps.
Designed to accommodate highly variable irrigation demand, the HydroTOUCH controller automatically stages and controls each pump to match system requirements while providing comprehensive motor protection, intuitive operator control and complete system visibility. The result is a reliable, energy-efficient irrigation solution capable of supplying water to up to 35 travelling irrigators from one central control platform.
The irrigation system needed to supply water to as many as 35 travelling irrigators operating across the property, with demand constantly changing throughout the day. The control system needed to respond automatically by matching pump output to demand while protecting large pump motors, maintaining stable system pressure and delivering reliable operation across the entire irrigation network.
MATelec Australia designed a custom HydroTOUCH VSD control system that centrally manages three 90kW line shaft turbine pumps from one intuitive platform. Intelligent pump staging and variable speed control automatically bring pumps online as demand increases, ensuring efficient operation while reducing energy consumption and mechanical wear. By centralising system control within HydroTOUCH, operators benefit from straightforward commissioning, live system status, comprehensive pump protection and simple day-to-day operation, all from a single touchscreen interface.
